Dickie McCamey Achieves ALLY Certification in Diversity and Inclusion
Dickie McCamey & Chilcote (“DMC”) has achieved another milestone in its tradition of actively supporting diversity in the legal profession. The firm has earned its certification from the Allegheny County Bar Association (“ACBA”) as part of the inaugural cohort of the ALLY Initiative.
The ALLY certificate was presented in a ceremony held last night at Emerald City. Dickie McCamey attorneys Bridget L. Baranyai, Christopher T. Lee, Barbara Y. Strnad, and summer clerk Fallon Howard accepted the honor.
ALLY stands for Attorneys, Learning as allies, Living as allies, and Yielding results. The ACBA’s website indicates that the initiative was created “to engage attorneys, their law firms, corporate legal departments, courts and other legal organizations to commit to increase inclusivity, create equitable workplaces, empower historically marginalized and underrepresented members of the bar and reflect the community we serve, through active participation in various key programs and projects targeted to achieve these objectives.”
“We are deeply honored to be recognized by ALLY,” said Kenya C. Miller, a Dickie McCamey shareholder and Co-Chair of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. “It underscores our commitment to promoting an environment that fosters diversity and inclusion in the workplace and the communities we serve.”
Over the last year Dickie McCamey has completed ten goals to earn this ALLY certification. The firm has a long history of supporting diversity efforts, and the ALLY certification is further proof of a commitment to advancing diversity, equality and inclusion efforts both within and outside of the legal profession.
Our legal team went into the community to host a speed-networking event with the Black Law Students Association at Duquesne University and helped the Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition design and implement a Legal Career Exploration Program for diverse high school students.
Dickie McCamey implemented diversity training throughout the organization to explain how diversity, equality, inclusion and accessibility practices, policies and efforts cultivate an accessible culture where people feel they belong. The firm enacted a policy recognizing attorneys for time spent on activities intended to promote diversity in the legal profession or community.
DMC also formalized a Women’s Initiative within the firm, hosting a kickoff event on confidence, strong networks and mentorship. Dickie McCamey sponsored multiple diverse attorneys in attending a training program or conference to further their career. The firm also increased support of Black and minority-owned businesses.
