Devon Ferris Appointed to PLDIC Young Professionals Advisory Board
Dickie McCamey associate Devon F. Ferris has been appointed to the newly formed Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition’s (PLDIC) Young Professionals Advisory Board. As a member of the Young Professionals Advisory Board, Ms. Ferris will lend her perspective as a young professional to guide and inform PLDIC’s continued programing, committees, and working groups.
Ms. Ferris concentrates her practice in the areas of admiralty, insurance defense, Jones Act, maritime law, and municipal law, and she is a member of the DMC’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
“I am honored to have been selected to serve on the inaugural Young Professionals Advisory Board of the Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition,” Ms. Ferris said. “I am excited to continue working on PLDIC’s important initiatives and bettering our legal community here in Pittsburgh.”
The PLDIC uses the strengths of its member organizations, including law firms, in-house legal departments, and government and non-profit legal organizations, to positively impact the Pittsburgh legal community by increasing diversity and fostering inclusion.
Ms. Ferris has contributed her time and talents to developing and expanding PLDIC programming focused on improving educational pathways for diverse students interested in exploring and pursuing careers in the legal field. Her work with the PLDIC is a stellar example of the importance and the potential impact of promoting diversity and inclusion at Dickie McCamey and in the broader legal community.
Last year, Ms. Ferris was named PLDIC’s Volunteer of the Year.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Ferris served as an attorney advisor at the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges, where she worked on federal workers’ compensation matters, including claims under the Black Lung Benefits Act and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.
Ms. Ferris also handled a variety of whistleblower and immigration cases while at the U.S. Department of Labor. During law school, she interned with the Appeals Unit of the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office and clerked for Justice Debra Todd of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
