Singleton and Waldinger Named Pro Bono Award Winners

Darious Singleton and Ashley Waldinger

Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. awarded its 2023 David B. Fawcett Pro Bono award to Darious D. Singleton and Ashley D. Waldinger. The award is presented annually to the firm’s associate who has given their time to help those in need — a trademark of the award’s namesake, David B. Fawcett.

Mr. Fawcett was dedicated to our lawyers’ efforts to provide free and meaningful legal services to indigent civil litigants, including the working poor. Further, in honor of his many charitable efforts, Dickie McCamey acknowledges the many members of our staff who faithfully and generously contribute to supporting those in need.

“Dickie McCamey is a beacon in Allegheny County. Not just in saying you are dedicated to pro bono work but putting it into effect and supporting your associates,” said the Honorable Nicola Henry-Taylor, Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, Family Division. “Your work is truly appreciated.” The Honorable Henry-Taylor was the featured speaker during yesterday’s ceremony at the firm’s headquarters.

The award criteria include recommendations from program coordinators and results achieved, while satisfying all their other responsibilities in the firm.

“Both recipients are very well respected as high-functioning professionals at the firm, and their pro bono activities are exemplary,” said shareholder William D. Clifford.

“Darious handles multiple Best Interests cases on his own and has delivered impressive results. He also has done remarkable work with Roots of Faith’s Neighborhood Table,” according to Mr. Clifford.

“From the time that I started working as an attorney, serving people has always been at the forefront of my mind.” Mr. Singleton said. “I am honored to be at a firm like Dickie that really elevates and prioritizes serving people that need our help.”

“Ashley not only deserves this honor for her work for this past year,” Mr. Clifford explained, “this is also like a lifetime achievement award for her. She’s been a high-performance member of our pro bono effort; long before she was an attorney, she also contributed marvelously when she was a paralegal at the firm.”

“I am happy to be part of the pro bono committee,” Ms. Waldinger said. “I’m just so proud to be at a firm that supports your involvement with all of these excellent programs.”

Mr. Singleton concentrates his practice in medical malpractice while Ms. Waldinger practices in toxic tort and asbestos litigation, commercial transactions law, and trademark law. Both earned their Juris Doctor at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University.
