Profile & Honors

Michael A. Muha is a shareholder of Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. He concentrates his practice in civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on commercial disputes, product liability law, and appellate work. Mr. Muha has represented an array of business entities in every level of state and federal court in Pennsylvania, as well as numerous other state courts, federal district courts, and federal appellate courts across the country. Mr. Muha has successfully obtained summary judgment for his clients on numerous occasions, tried cases to verdict, and briefed and argued appeals in multiple jurisdictions.

A member of the Product Liability Advisory Council (PLAC), Mr. Muha maintains a national product liability practice and has represented manufacturers and sellers in litigation across the country encompassing outdoor power equipment, industrial equipment, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, utility vehicles, tires, polyurethane foams, medical devices, and various other consumer and commercial products. In addition to his direct representation of defendants who have been sued, Mr. Muha has also been retained by advocacy groups to author amicus curiae briefs in high stakes cases decided by appellate courts. He has also counseled clients on product design, manufacturing processes, product warnings, warranty language, Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) recall issues, and other strategic matters with an eye toward enhancing product safety and utility and avoiding litigation in the first instance.

As part of his practice, Mr. Muha also represents individuals and businesses involved in all manner of commercial disputes. This extends to class action lawsuits, multi-district litigation (MDL), wage payment disputes, shareholder disputes and corporate governance, non-compete agreements, trade secret law, and purchase/sale agreements. In both litigation and non-litigation matters, Mr. Muha frequently evaluates, drafts, and negotiates commercial agreements.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Muha worked as a law clerk at Dickie McCamey. He also served as an intern to the Honorable Carlota M. Böhm of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the Honorable Maurice B. Cohill, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Muha has experience representing individuals and businesses in a variety of areas. Recent examples include:

  • Securing jury defense verdict and handling subsequent appellate work for lawnmower manufacturer in lawsuit involving product liability claim and multi-million dollar demand
  • Defending multiple manufacturers of consumer and commercial products in their product liability litigation across the country, including claims of wrongful death, permanent and catastrophic injury, and fire and other property damage, as well as allegations of design defects, manufacturing defects, inadequate warnings, and product malfunctions
  • Consulting and representing individuals and businesses in disputes arising out of employee departures, non-compete agreements, and other post-employment restrictive covenants
  • Defending a materials supplier and securing its extrication from a multi-district litigation (MDL) proceeding in federal court involving allegedly defective medical devices and over 58,000 personal injury claimants
  • Representing partial owners of a closely-held company in trial court and appellate court proceedings in multiple states on issues ranging from corporate governance, to a contested dissolution, to the sale of ownership interests
  • Representing a foreign technology company in a commercial dispute involving complicated issues governed by the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods

A major component of Mr. Muha’s litigation practice is authoring briefs and other written submissions to trial courts and appellate courts. With regularity, Mr. Muha has successfully persuaded courts to accept and adopt his arguments in their own published decisions, resulting in favorable outcomes for his clients as well as favorable precedent in future cases. Recent examples include:

  • Yuan v. Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., ___ 2026 WL ___ (E.D. Pa. Aug. 18, 2026) – Secured exclusion of plaintiff’s liability expert and obtained summary judgment for defendants in product liability lawsuit involving lawn tractor, house fire, and property damage claim in excess of $840,000
  • George v. Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., 817 F. Supp. 3d 277 (E.D. Pa. 2026) – Secured exclusion of plaintiff’s liability expert and obtained summary judgment for defendants in product liability lawsuit involving lawn tractor, house fire, and property damage claim in excess of $585,000
  • Vakili v. MTD Products Inc., 2025 WL 3141940 (M.D. Pa. Nov. 10, 2025) – Obtained summary judgment for defendants in product liability lawsuit involving snow thrower and blade contact injuries resulting in amputation of fingers
  • Eynon v. United States Steel Corp., No. 673 WDA 2023, 2025 WL 844496 (Pa. Super. 2025) – Secured dismissal of class action brought on behalf of former employees seeking allegedly unpaid bonuses and, on appeal, obtained unanimous decision affirming trial court’s dismissal
  • McDonnell v. MTD Products Inc., No. CI-19-06173, 2025 WL 3252449 (Pa. Com. Pl., Lancaster County Aug. 19, 2025) – Secured jury verdict and judgment for defendants and subsequent denial of plaintiffs’ post-trial motions in product liability lawsuit involving lawnmower, catastrophic blade contact injuries, and demand of $2,875,000
  • Brewer v. Troy-Bilt LLC, 2023 WL 7167564 (E.D. Pa., Oct. 31 2023) – Obtained summary judgment for defendants in snow thrower and blade contact injuries
  • Liebig v. MTD Products Inc., 688 F.Supp.3d 236 (E.D. Pa. 2023) – In product liability lawsuit involving snow thrower, obtained dismissal of plaintiff’s claims that defendants violated alleged post-sale duties to warn or recall the snow thrower
  • Liebig v. MTD Products Inc., 674 F.Supp.3d 164 (E.D. Pa. 2023) – Successfully invoked doctrine of fraudulent joinder to remove lawsuit from Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas to federal court
  • Dunkin v. D.F. Chase, Inc., 2022 WL 4071869 (E.D. Pa. Sep. 2, 2022) – In product liability/wrongful death lawsuit involving concrete saw, successfully leveraged venue and jurisdictional rules to remove lawsuit from Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas to federal court system, and to then have lawsuit transferred from Eastern District of Pa. to Middle District of Pa.
  • Bookhultz v. Sears Authorized Hometown Stores, LLC, 2018 WL 3727942 (D. Md. Aug. 3, 2018) – Following defense verdict in jury trial involving allegedly defective lawn tractor, successfully handled post-trial motions practice resulting in denial of plaintiff’s request for a new trial
