Barbara Strnad Named Winner of David B. Fawcett Pro Bono Award

Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. has awarded its annual David B. Fawcett Pro Bono honor to Barbara Y. Strnad. The award is presented annually to the firm’s associate who has given their time to help those in need – a trademark of the award’s namesake, David B. Fawcett.

“This award that is dedicated in honor of Dave Fawcett highlights the tremendous dedication of our lawyers particularly our associates in providing free and meaningful legal services to indigent civil litigants including the working poor. Further, in honor of Dave’s many charitable efforts, we honor the many members of our staff that faithfully and generously contribute to the many causes supporting the poor including the working poor,” said shareholder William D. Clifford, “We consider our pro bono efforts and our charitable efforts to be from the same wellspring that was instilled in this firm many years ago by several of our senior attorneys, most notably Dave Fawcett.”

Ms. Strnad volunteers with the Best Interests Attorneys Program and the Sharpsburg Neighborhood Table Clinic.

“Mr. Fawcett created a legacy in our firm and the region encouraging attorneys to ensure that all people have access to quality legal services,” explained Ms. Strnad. “I am honored to be recognized with this award and honored to be part of a firm that values pro bono service and is committed to continuing that legacy.”

This is the ninth year for the award and, in addition to Ms. Strnad, four attorneys were finalists for their strong volunteer efforts:  Jessica L. Altobelli, Alyssa M. Dedola, Jesse A. Harcar, and Katelin J. Montgomery.

Criteria for the award includes recommendations from program coordinators and results achieved, while satisfying all of their other responsibilities in the firm. Ms. Strnad has selected Community Justice Project to be the beneficiary of a donation from the firm.
