Gregory C. Michaels is a shareholder of Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. He concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial and civil litigation with an emphasis in the areas of  oil and gas, product liability, and bankruptcy/workout and creditors’ rights.

Mr. Michaels’ practice involves the successful representation of energy companies in a wide range of litigation from defending quiet title actions; lease, contract and service agreement disputes; water contamination/pollution claims; and personal injury suits including Jones Act claims. He has represented secured and unsecured creditors in Chapters 7, 13, and 11 bankruptcies. He has also successfully defended preference actions and claims dispute litigation for numerous companies. Additionally, he has provided general counseling to businesses regarding licensing agreements, compliance with consumer product safety regulations, and general commercial matters.

Representative Matters:

  • Defended claims related to oil and gas lease/landowner disputes including but not limited to quiet title, Guaranteed Minimum Royalty Statute, trespass, lease termination, and forfeiture clauses
  • Represented drilling and gas production companies in catastrophic personal injury, groundwater contamination, and private nuisance suits in connection with oil and gas operations
  • Represented coal and aggregate suppliers in cargo loss claims, contract disputes, Jones Act, and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act suits and other maritime disputes
  • Represented secured creditors and claimants in Chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcies including the negotiation and successful purchase of acreage, including oil and gas rights, from debtor entities
